Foxie Makes a New Friend

Foxie loved her best friend, Kittie, because they would play at the neighborhood park together almost every day. There were a few other neighborhood kids who would come out and play sometimes, but Foxie and Kittie were the two that seemed to be there most often. One day, an elephant girl about the same age as Foxie and Kittie moved into the neighborhood with her family. As her family was settling in, the elephant girl decided to see what the park was all about. Right in the middle of Foxie playing pretend family with Kittie, the new elephant girl walked up and began to introduce herself. Foxie had never seen an elephant before, so she was quite interested in her at first. Although Foxie didn’t want to stop playing pretend with Kittie, she knew the right thing to do was to introduce herself, too. 

“I’m Ellie,” said the girl.

“I’m Foxie and this is my best friend, Kittie,” Foxie pointed at Kittie who was only just now making her way over to the other girls. 

“What are you playing?” asked Ellie.

“We’re playing pretend family, would you like to join us?” Foxie smiled as she invited the new girl to join in their playtime. Foxie was a bit nervous about inviting the new girl to play with her because she had a good time with Kittie and didn’t want anyone to ruin that. She didn’t know how Ellie would play or what she liked or anything about her. Even though she was nervous, she decided to give Ellie a chance anyway.

Ellie agreed to join in playing and the three girls had a great time for about one hour. Then, Ellie’s mom called her home for dinner. 

“See you next time!” Said Ellie, as she walked away. 

Foxie and Kittie waved goodbye to Ellie and were hoping they would get to play with her again soon. 

As the next few days went forward, Foxie and Kittie got to play with Ellie every afternoon. They quickly became good friends and as the duo went to a trio Foxie was happy to have made a new friend. Foxie was glad that she gave Ellie a chance that first day, because it turned out that they had a lot in common.
